UI Fails of the day

I just upgraded from 14.04LTS to 16.04.01LTS. Still finding warts. Here's this morning's: I install kmail and start it up. It reads in my old settings and talks about new account creation (why is it trying to create a new account? I already had fully-working accounts before I performed an upgrade). Anyways, it decided that I should use a KDE Wallet. Whatever - I'll bite the bullet. So I agree. It asks me to choose classic blowfish or GPG. I go with GPG.

I am then given only the option of using the Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key (or back or finish). There is no "new" option - that needs to be fixed. So I select that key because it's the only option. Then a pile of stuff breaks because it can't use that key (I'm not even prompted for a password). At this point there is no "back" button - only failure. So I install Kgpg to create the required keys. First, why prompt people for info and at the same time tell them to just click next? A better option would be to pick all the defaults and then have a config menu somewhere to change the values. When generating a key pair I'm prompted for the algorithm to use. I have the options of "RSA & RSA" and "RSA". W.T.F. Also, there's a set of capabilities listed below with checkboxes, but the whole section is grayed out. No amount of fiddling with the options I can change here allow me to change the checkboxes.

Attempting to unlock the checkboxes by pressing "Expert mode" brings up a shell running GPG (oh, god, why?). Hitting Ctrl-C to go back to the non "Expert Mode" provides a statement of "Warning: Program 'gpg' crashed." So I go through the keypair creation process and click okay or whatever. There is no status showing me what's going on. I check the status indicator in the tray and it says something like "Waiting for passphrase". So now I hunt around for about a minute trying to find a passphrase prompt box. None found. Eventually that status switches to one for generating prime numbers.

Okay. I launch kmail. Point kwallet at my new key and enter my passphrase. So far, so good. Then I'm treated to an error about being unable to fetch a collection in one dialog box while prompted to add account information in another.

I have yet to find a way to add information about the accounts being asked about in Account Assistant such that it's happy. I am able to lock the account management window from the kmail instance and see what's there, but I'm unable to do anything useful because it's blocked by the modal "we will now exit" dialog.

And it looks like my kmail startup issue is due to Debian bug 833625

This worked before I upgraded!
