Siaya Election Official, Foreign Nationals Killed As Murder Cases Rise

Murder cases in Kenya seem to be on the rise with the recent murder of another IEBC official in Siaya and two foreign nationals in Mombasa.

The Deputy Presiding Officer in Ugenya Constituency in Siaya County was found dead on Saturday in Sirowa village, North Ugenya.

The election official, identified as 39-year-old secondary school teacher Caroline Adhiambo was found along a footpath where her body was dumped with deep cuts.

North Ugenya Chief, Joseph Ooko, said that Ms. Adhiambo’s body was suspected to be tortured before being murdered. He said she left her home on Friday telling her husband she was heading to Ugenya High School to pick up some items when she met her death.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at Sega Mission Hospital Mortuary ahead of a post mortem as investigations have been launched to establish the exact cause and motive of the death.

Siaya County Police Commander, Mrs. Sarah Duncan, said preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was gang raped as her genitals and left ear was badly mutilated.

In another shocking murder case on the other side of the country, the bodies of two foreign nationals were found on Sunday morning in Kisauni, Mombasa County.

The two bodies, a middle-aged Caucasian man and woman who are yet to be identified, were discovered by commuters on the roadside at Nguu Tatu, a few meters from Kiembeni estate in Kisauni.

Kisauni OCPD, Christopher Rotich confirmed the incident adding that the bodies had injury marks on them suggesting that they might have been killed at another location before being dumped by the roadside.

“At around 6.30 am, we received a call from the public on the findings of these bodies and on arrival found two victims, a man and a woman who appeared to have been hit with blunt objects,” Rotich said.

He added that investigations have begun into the incident.
