When writing Classical Guitar music there is the need to notate a Bar chord. I have seen this for years in sheet music. There are a few ways to notate it however, the most common is the use of a capitol "C" over top of the measure. When notated, it defines a full bar as "C" and a half bar a "C" with a Vertical slash through it followed by the fret number using roman numerals. They use C rather than writing Bar because it is cleaner and less cluttered. This is especially true when indicating a half bar.
Example: Imagine a vertical slash through the "C"
C VII
or
1/2 Bar VII
It doesn't seem like much but it is massive when working on a classical guitar piece where you are cluttering fingerings, string indications, slurs, and Bars in to 1 measure.
To finish it off it will indicate the length you hold the bar chord with the same thing a 1st ending and 2nd ending is.
so for example C IV ----------------------------------------------------
This is a must for guitar music writing.
