How do I make a cymbal swell using MIDI inputs?

I recently leaed how to use a recorded cymbal hit and then reverse the audio so that it makes the “swell” sound that I’m looking for. But is there a way that I can make this same sound using MIDI controls since I do not have an actual cymbal to record?
