FIFA Rankings: Harambee Stars Drop to 102 In Latest Compilation

Harambee Stars of Kenya has been placed at 102 in the latest FIFA rankings released by the world football governing body on Monday.

Stanley Okumbi’s men fell 14 places in this latest ranking following a poor run of form, losing 2-1 to Iraq and 1-0 to Thailand in recent international matches.

The recent string of poor performances has also led to increased calls for the Stars head coach to be fired.

Football Kenya Federation boss, Nick Mwendwa, has, however, categorically insisted that Okumbi is “here to stay”.

The Cranes of Uganda lead the way in the CECAFA region as they have done in the past three years. They are ranked at 70, with Zambia, a frequent guest team in the competition, ranked 77.

Rwanda ranks at 118, Burundi at 129 while Tanzania comes in at 136. Ethiopia and South Sudan are ranked at 151 and 153 respectively.

On the continent, Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles are the highest ranked African team at position 28. Tunisia climbed three places to take over from Egypt as the top-ranked side on the continent.

Tunisia beat Guinea 4-1 away in their latest qualifier and head their pool by three points from DR Congo with a home game against Libya to come.

Egypt, who just secured a place in the 2018 World Cup to end their 28-year wait, maintained is the second-highest team in 30th position.

Senegal climbed a single place to rank 32 to complete the top three teams from Africa.

The remainder of the top 10 teams in Africa includes DR Congo (35)‚ Nigeria (41)‚ Cameroon (42)‚ Morocco (48)‚ Ghana (52)‚ Burkina Faso (55) and Ivory Coast (61).

Globally, there were no changes in the top five FIFA rankings list which came after the final round of pool stage qualifiers in Europe and South America.

World Cup wiers Germany continue to be the highest ranked team on the list‚ followed by Brazil‚ Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.

The top ten is completed by Poland, France, who moved up one place, Spain, who moved up three places, Chile and then Peru, who also moved up two places.
