Is Studio One supposed to automatically mute an area you've just pasted over ?

So I've just copied a piece from a track and pasted it to another part of that track. When I play that part where I've pasted it, I hear both the pasted part and the orginal part 'under' it. If I goto the original part and mute that area, and then paste, all is fine but I'm trying to figure out if there is way to setup the software so it automatically mutes the area that is being pasted over. Thx
