The distribution of election material across the country has entered its final leg as the country has declared Wednesday a public holiday for final preparations.

Also, the other international firm contracted to supply the technological materials for the repeat election, OT-Morpho, has said it is ready to deliver a credible election on Thursday.

The French firm, which was accused of rigging the August 8 election, said in a statement on Tuesday that an external audit shows its systems were secure during the polls, contrary to the opposition’s claims.

“The final report from this external IT leader proves…no evidence of errors has been identified and OT-Morpho RTS system used for the August 8 election was not compromised,” read the statement.

The firm said it hired a Top 3 IT company worldwide to conduct an external audit. It had previously conducted two internal audits and one more by an independent expert.

OT-Morpho asked for the election to be conducted on October 31 to ensure the roll-out of the full RTS system but Thursday’s date was upheld.

“The High Court decision of October 11, adding other presidential candidates…had a very significant impact and would have required OT-Morpho to generate a new software for the KIEMS kits so as to include the list of new candidates as well as update the 45,000 KIEMS kits,” it said.

OT-Morpho said only part of the capabilities of the RTS system, which is the transmission of pictures of forms 34A and 34B instead of text results, will be technically usable at this time.

“OT-Morpho will not intervene in any other aspect of the presidential election. Neither in the successful conduct of the election procedures in the polling stations (voting, counting of votes, etc.) nor in the collection of the 34B paper forms in the polling stations.”

It assured that its employees will not be at polling stations.
