Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga is among a 30-man shortlist for the 2017 African Player of the Year Award.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) published the names of the elite African players on its website on Wednesday.
The Girona FC forward will slug it out with other top shots from across the continent such as Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who won in 2015 and Senegal’s Sadio Mane who came third in 2016.

A notable absentee from the list is last year’s wier, Algeria and Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

The wier of the award will be decided by votes from the head coaches/technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF, members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee and a panel of media experts.

Four players, however, made both shortlists. They are Tunisia’s Ali Maaloul, South Africa’s Percy Tau, Uganda goalkeeper Deis Onyango, and Zambia’s Fackson Kapumbu.
The wiers of both categories will be aounced at an awards gala scheduled to be held on January 4, 2018, in Accra, Ghana.
