Dead Voters — ODM leader Raila Odinga has slammed the IEBC’s competence after revealing that his late son Fidel Odinga’s name is still on the register.
Raila made the revelation during a Tuesday morning interview on Radio Maisha.
“They (IEBC) say they have cleaned the register. My son who died in 2015, his name is on the register. If you send his ID number, you get his details,” he said.
This comes after The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) had said that it had cleaned up the 88,602 dead voters discovered by audit company KPMG.
KPMG had revealed that there was a possibility of having over 1 million dead voters on the register.

Raila’s discovery is an indication that more dead voters could still be present in the voter register with the polls now weeks away.
Last week, Kenyans raised questions over the integrity of the IEBC after the SMS voter verification platform was found to be filled with errors.
The former Prime Minister raised concern over the fact that odd identification numbers like 00 were linked to registration details.
“…But what is more battling is the fact that if you send ID number 00, you get registration details; 11 too,” he said.
He added; “This begs the question: why can’t the IEBC explain why this hasn’t happened.”
NASA has in the past alleged that the IEBC is working hand-in-hand with the ruling Jubilee party to rig the forthcoming polls.

Odinga said that the IEBC should make public the dead names they claim have been expunged from the register.
The NASA leader further revealed that his team is keenly monitoring the IEBC operations. “We are looking at IEBC with a microscope… mjinga ameerevuka,” he said.
In the interview, Raila also said criticised the government for labelling some areas as violent hot spot saying it is a scheme to prevent Kenyans from coming out to vote.
“This is a trick to deploy many police officers so voters are scared…this was plaed. I remember they went to Embakasi barracks to effect the plan to cause chaos….The government says there will be violence. We are not the type of people who promote chaos…this is a scheme to scare voters,” Raila added.
