ODMs Nanok And Kingi Attack Jubilee For Using National Resources To Campaign

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok and Kilifi Governor Amason Jeffa Kingi of the Orange Democratic Movement have blasted the Jubilee Administration of what they said was a ploy by the ruling government to use national resources to campaign.

Kingi pointed out that the timing of the disbursement of relief food to drought-affected areas was questionable.

He said it was a strategic move by the ruling coalition to use the food crisis in the country to campaign for themselves in the build-up to the General Election.

“Jubilee is not sincere in its intentions of supplying food here, I urge you to reject their overtures just like last year during the Malindi by-election. They splashed the cash but you rejected their candidate,” said Kingi.

Governor Josphat Nanok, on the other hand, blamed the Jubilee administration for the failed take-off of the oil business in Turkana.

Speaking at a separate event from Kingi at Chepsirei in Elgeyo Marakwet during a NASA campaign on Saturday, he said the oil business had been marred by a myriad of challenges which have hampered amid high expectations by the public.

“When the operations commenced, we expected the business to boom but it seems it has failed to take off,” said Nanok.

“This is solely the responsibility of the Jubilee administration which has failed to fully support the project. When the NASA government takes over, it will bolster the economy.”

He then added that the government has been unwilling to implement laws on how oil proceeds will be shared with the community.

“There is an urgent need for the government to handle the revenues issue with care and due diligence. This will prevent conflicts related to the sharing of national resources.”

Following their rants, both men went on to express confidence that the National Super Alliance presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, will emerge victorious on August 8.
