Author Of Raila Odinga’s Book Exposing Govt’s Rigging Plot Goes Missing

Mr Newton Babior, the author of the book “The Raila Conspiracy” which talks about how elections since ex-President Daniel Moi’s regime has been rigged and how the forthcoming August elections would be rigged has been confirmed missing.

Mr Babior went missing on June 27th, the day the said book was supposed to be launched.

In his book, Babior stated that the last free and fair elections Kenya has had was the 2002 General Elections when the then incumbent president Mwai Kibaki contested against the present incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta.

The book also alleged that a statement made by the ICT Cabinet Secretary that sect group Al Shabab had the powers to interfere with the digital system of the polls was an indication of a plot to rig the imminent polls.

The book launch was supposed to be chaired by the NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga. Other dignitaries who were supposed to be in attendance include Kenya School of Law CEO, Prof PLO Lumumba, political analyst Herman Manyora, as well as, publishing editor Barrack Muluka.

Manager of Booksaves, Mr Vincent Adede said that “The launch was scheduled to happen that day but the guy just went missing in action and we caot reach him since then.”

At about 10 AM on the day he went missing, Newton Babior posted a Facebook message inviting Kenyans to attend the book launch.

“Don’t idolise this kind of misleading idiot. Come to the launch. Get a copy of the book. Read it and make an independent opinion,” he wrote on Facebook.

Babior’s Facebook post came after political commentator David Matsanga had criticized the book saying that it “killed the world and Kenya in particular.”

About 3 weeks to the book launch day, Newton Babior told the media that the book was published in India by Magadashan Printers, but that authorities seized the shipment at the Mombasa port.

Babior’s disappearance was reported to the Ruaruka police station and recorded on Monday under the OB number 18/3/7/17.

Journalists contacted Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome for more information but he declined to comment saying he was not aware of it.

Babior’s family and friends had earlier been concerned for his life and safety after a youth who authored the political biography entitled “The Living Legend” went missing.

Other authors had also taken to social media to express concerns over the disappearance.
