NASA Unveils Raila Odinga Swearing-in Plans

The National Super Alliance on Friday unveiled its controversial Raila Odinga swearing-in plan slated for Tuesday, December 12.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen speaking to journalists at the Okoa Kenya Secretariat, outlined how the event will be held.

He, however, failed to confirm the venue and the list or the list of invited guests. He just said the Opposition has sent invitation letters to the Judiciary, National Police Service, Kenya Defense Forces and all independent commissions.

Mr. Ong’wen also made sure to avoid explicitly saying that Mr. Odinga will be sworn in.

“We will open with a national anthem followed by prayers led by various religious leaders. Then there will be a formal declaration of the congregation gathered. The fourth item will be the adoption of the agenda. The fifth item will be the inauguration of the leadership and the sixth will be the address by leaders of the assembly,” said Ong’wen.

The Executive Director also said that a secretariat has been put in place to manage the logistics of the constitutive assembly.

“Since this committee was established last week we have put in place a secretariat to manage the work of the preparation of the assembly. The secretariat will be based at Okoa Kenya and the head of that secretariat will be Dr. Noah Akala,” he said.

Dr. Akala said the National Resistance Movement has not violated any law.

“The reason why we have invited all these entities is to ensure we have a broad approach to all the issues affecting the constitutionalism of this country,” he said, noting their activities have been within the confines of the law.

Akala noted they were relying more on their legal team, unlike AG Githu Muigai’s “who has issued baseless threats of high treason”.

“It should be well noted that the same Raila we will swear-in spearheaded the promulgation of the current constitution. He is, therefore, the last person who can act against the same document he fought for.”
