Both Israel and Palestine lay claim to Jerusalem as their capital. Jerusalem is considered a holy city by Jews, Christians and Muslims.
The council on Friday said that the Jubilee administration should stop working with the U.S. if Trump does not reverse his aouncement.
“The US has been championing for peace but Trump’s latest move does the opposite of that,” said CIPK organizing secretary Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa.
“Kenya caot be allowed to continue engaging with a conflict lover. It is better to have nothing to do with him or his country,” said Khalifa.
Sheikh Khalifa noted that the world does not need war and that Trump is compromising his country’s role as a mediator in ongoing attempts for a peace deal between Israel and Palestine.
U.S. allies including Pope Francis, Palestinian leaders, and the Muslim world have condemned Trump’s move.
The aouncement has resulted in protests and is likely to increase the conflict between Israel and Palestine. US embassies in Turkey, Jordan, Germany and Britain have issued security alerts urging Americans to exercise caution.

“Jerusalem is a holy city because Prophets Suleiman, Daudi, Musa, Issa and Mohamed stepped in that city and lived there,” he said.

“Aouncing that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel shows Trump is barbaric, loves to see bloodshed and lacks respect. He has a very poor history.”
The cleric said Trump is using diversionary tactics to hide his scandal over possible links with Russia during his campaigns.
“It is sad that he slept and woke up to aounce that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel out of the blues,” Sheikh Khalifa said.
