How do I finalize scratch pad to the main arrangement?

I love the scratch pad, but how do you finalize the scratch pad you like? In a video someone says I should drag the contents of the pad to the main window, but it didn't replace my original arrangement but did some weird kind of Frankenstein ripple edit!
