Audio Box USB - Instrument Input Using 1/4" jack - Chael 1 or Chael 2?

When using my Audiobox USB, does it matter which chael (1 or 2) that I use for an instrument 1/4" jack or XLR mic cable? Both chaels are equipped to accept either one. Or is one chael preferred over another? In the previous answer, the comment seems to imply that Chael One is for coecting an instrument.
