Paris Saint-Germain Preparing World-Record £195 Million Bid For Neymar

Reports have emerged that Paris Saint-Germain is preparing a world-record £195 million move for Barcelona forward Neymar.

The amount will trigger the Brazilian international’s release clause at Camp Nou. He would also stand to earn a salary in the region of £25million-per-year while linking up with compatriots including Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura.

Madrid paper AS has reported that Neymar’s father is scheduled to travel to Paris this week to discuss the move with PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The report also says the Ligue 1 club is prepared to use Italy midfielder and Barca target Marco Verratti as bait.

There have been suggestions by the press that Neymar, who is under contract at Barca until 2021, is unsettled at the club. They speculate that the superstar is eager to move somewhere where he will be the main star and challenge for the Ballon d’Or rather than playing second fiddle to Lionel Messi.

Also, having won every major club honor with the Blaugrana, he feels he needs a new challenge.

Barcelona’s board of directors, however, reject the press’ claim and are said to be “very calm” amid the imminent bid. They are confident their superstar forward has no intention of leaving Catalunya and will reject the Ligue 1’s side overtures.

“He is still happy here,” said spokesman Josep Vives at a press conference.

“He is happy in the club and the club is happy with him. He verbalizes it and he shows it with his attitude. We are relaxed about that and we only hope next season is better than the last one.”

On the issue of the imminent bid from PSG for the Brazilian talisman, Vives said: “We are very calm.”

“Selling Neymar is not something the club would think about.”

“He is one of the most important players we have, we will not consider any offers we receive for him.”
