North Rift Leaders Abandon Jubilee Party To Launch NASA Campaign Caravan In Eldoret

North Rift leaders including former allies of Deputy President William Ruto have boosted Raila Odinga’s bid for the presidency in the region after they formally aounced their support for him.

The leaders, who were led by David Koech, a former Jubilee Party director, declared in Eldoret on Monday that they would intensify campaigns for NASA in the region and have launched a caravan to popularize its manifesto. They said they would change the political narrative in the region to ensure NASA triumphs in the August polls.

Koech said:

“The official launch of the NASA presidential caravan will market the coalition’s manifesto that clearly brings hope to all Kenyans. We urge residents to embrace change and vote for Raila who will transform the economy.”

“It is only in the agenda of NASA manifesto that challenges facing farmers in the North Rift and other issues facing the ordinary Kenyans will be addressed. Our opponents in Jubilee Party have dismissed this manifesto, yet it comes with solutions faced by citizens at the grassroots level.”

He stated that if NASA takes over, its government would ensure access to affordable inputs on time and the National Cereals and Produce Board would open buying centers and reach out to farmers during the harvesting season.

Prominent North Rift leaders who joined Koech in promising to dislodge the ruling party from power includes Chesumei MP Elijah Lagat and Emgwen MP Stephen Tarus, a former Kenyan Ambassador to Australia. Others include former Cabinet Minister John Cheruiyot, former MPs Joseph Misoi (Eldoret South), David Sudi (Marakwet West), Jesse Maiz (Eldoret South), and Francis Mutwol (Marakwet West).

ODM devolution secretary Kipkorir Menjo and Songok and Isaac Letting, its party’s candidates for Turbo and Nandi Hills respectively, among others, were also present.
