Jubilee-NASA Wars! Matiang’i Tells Raila Odinga He Can’t Be Intimidated

In another chapter of the ongoing Jubilee-NASA wars, acting Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has called out Raila Odinga saying he caot be intimated from performing his duties.

This follows allegations made by the NASA presidential candidate last week that Matiang’i was colluding with IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to rig the polls.

Speaking at the Kisii Cathedral, Matiang’i said he has the constitutional right as acting Interior Cabinet Secretary to work with all sectors, including the IEBC.

He maintained that his main objective was ensuring adequate security during the August 8 General Elections.

“My work is to work with [IEBC] in providing police officers to polling stations during Election Day,” he explained.

“Our work is to protect Kenyans and support the IEBC. I will not entertain threats when it comes to safeguarding Kenyans interests.”

He went on to call for respect for those given the responsibility to serve the country and added that he will remain firm. He also reassured Kenyans that the country was ready to head to the polls.

“The security sector is ready for the election. Those plaing to cause mayhem will face the full force of the law. Leaders must respect the Constitution and independent institutions.”

Matiang’i told NASA to stop misleading Kenyans, adding that it is only the commission that is mandated to conduct the election.

CS Fred Matiang’i’s thoughts were echoed by President Kenyatta who was campaigning with Deputy President William Ruto in Garissa County on Sunday.

Uhuru bashed the opposition leader for using propaganda to woo voters.

Ruto went a step further by putting more petrol to the already blazing Jubilee-NASA wars. He said that NASA was trying to rig the elections by discrediting the Jubilee government with the help of foreign influence.

He, however, failed to be specific with his statement leaving room for imagination.
