A Molo Town man suffering at the hands of a cattle rustler has resorted to using witchcraft to battle the menace.

Residents in the town where animal theft had become a common occurrence were given a front row seat to the action after the witch doctor made a man crawl and eat grass for stealing the cattle.

The cattle owner, identified as David Omayo, enlisted the services of a Tanzanian witch doctor after his cow went missing. Omayo decided to use the witch doctor’s services which he paid KSh10,000 for, to find his cow after he had searched severally.

The witch doctor performed rituals in front of a large curious crowd who watched in amazement. It is said that the particular witch doctor had handled a similar case in a nearby region which sparked the curiosity from the crowd.

As he was performing the rituals, the witch doctor aounced that the thief was in the crowd. He demanded that the person steps forward or face heavier consequences. There was movement and chatter in the crowd but no one admitted to being the culprit.

The seemingly aoyed witch doctor went on to make a concoction and diluted it with water in a basin. He demanded that those present should wash their hands in it.

A local resident said: “Some locals took the challenge, while others walked away, fearing that the worse would have happened to them for being involved in witchcraft.”

The medicine man promised that the thief would own up before the end of the day.

The man eating grass was a respected member of the Nyumba Kumi neighborhood watch in the area.

Locals appealed to Mr. Omayo to ask the witch doctor to reverse the witchcraft. The witch doctor demanded KSh50,000 for the job, which the locals could not afford.

Locals tried taking the cattle rustler to Molo Level Four Hospital but doctors declined to admit saying it was not a medical condition.

After further deliberation with the cattle owner and witch doctor, KSh7,500 was paid and the traditional healer fixed him.

It is unclear if the Police are going to be involved going ahead as David Omayo seeks compensation for the loss of his cattle.
