I just want to make music. Software Conflicts/Crashes/Memory issues - Please help me!

I'm not sure where to start with this question.

I bought Studio One 3, a new Macbook (plenty of memory), Native Instruments Komplete 11 Ultimate, an Akai Advance 61 all to replace old equipment/DAW and things I'd used in the past. (although I still use the digidesign 003 factory and 1TB Maxtor external hard drive).

Now, as I try to set all these new things up together I'm finding many conflicts and Studio One crashes very often.

I thought loading instruments using the VIP software from Akai was the problem. However, if I load presets in Kontakt 5 it crashes pretty quickly too or I have to Force Quit.

Those are just a few of the problems. My question is about whether I've installed anything in the wrong place. I have a dedicated 1TB hard drive on which I put all my Ultimate 11 plugins & Presonus plugins.

Studio One 3 & VIP is on my computer's hard drive.

Is there anything wrong with that setup? If not, I can give further details and numerous further problems - essentially I'm unable to load a track, put on a plugin and play anything let alone record songs at this stage. I'm very stuck and would really appreciate any help. Please!
