KSh7 Million Found In City Hall In Sting Operation Led By Governor Sonko [VIDEO]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday led a sting operation in City Hall where he found KSh 7 million.

The new County boss took to Twitter to say the operation came after his administration was tipped off by an anonymous source.

“It is completely unacceptable that yesterday’s collection in excess of KSh7 million in cash was lying with the cashiers by 11 am yet the county’s bank is only 50 meters away,” wrote Governor Sonko.

He said he has instructed the cash office to immediately install CCTV cameras and that monitoring will be done by his office, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the National Intelligence Service.

Governor Sonko had promised during his swearing-in that Nairobi will never be the same again under his administration. He promised to rid the County of corruption, among other things including the environment and the garbage menace as well as protecting small business owners.

“I shall work round the clock to guarantee efficient and timely services for all our residents,” he said.

“My administration will put in place an elaborate plan to clean up the mess that has been left behind by the outgoing county government while ensuring every resident gets value for their money as taxpayers.”

Governor Sonko also promised former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga on the Social Media website that he will also end the increased number of cartels in the County.

This was after Mutunga complained and raised questions about the number of clean water tanks that suddenly rush to areas without supply.

“I can confirm to you today that the fight against water cartels has kicked off. Nairobi will never be the same again #DrainTheCartels,” he wrote.
