Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Swede Returns To Man United For Another Year

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has rejoined Manchester United on a one-year contract following a very successful spell with the club last season.

The 35-year-old former Sweden striker made 46 appearances and scored 28 goals for United last season before his season was ended prematurely by a knee injury suffered during a Europa League clash against Anderlecht in April.

He was later released by the club in June but is now back at Old Trafford for the 2017-18 campaign.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho told the club’s official website:

“We are delighted Zlatan is on the road to recovery and we are equally delighted to have his ambition and experience back with us.”

“After his contribution last season he deserves our trust and we will be patient waiting for him to return. I have no doubt that he will be important in the second part of the season.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will wear the No. 10 shirt this season at Old Trafford, is expected to be fit again in December. Reports, however, suggest he could be back on the pitch earlier than that around October.

“I am back to finish what I started. It was always mine and the club’s intention for me to stay,” said the former PSG striker.

“I caot wait to get back out on that Old Trafford pitch, but I also know that I have to take my time to make sure that I am ready. I have been working hard and will continue to do so to make sure I am in the best possible condition for my return to the pitch.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic began his footballing career with hometown club Malmo in 1999 and went on to play for Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG.

He joined Manchester United in the summer of 2016 on a free transfer from the French club and helped them win three trophies; the Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League.

The former Sweden captain retired from international football after Sweden’s exit from Euro 2016, having scored 62 goals in 116 appearances.

Manchester United will be hoping to tap into Zlatan’s record of having won a trophy in every season since 2001.
